The Sanctuary becomes a killing ground. My deepest sympathy to my brothers and sisters of the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. “Any man’s death diminishes me.” (John Donne)
“Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” MLK Jr.
May we each be one of those singular points of light our world so desperately needs.
In the 80s society went through this. We all became like lambs to slaughter. Anti-gun, anti-punishment, anti-consequences. Now we are reaping what we sowed. No respect for life, or a holy building, and shamed if we dare try to protect ourselves, or punish those who would commit evil.

I so appreciate the quotation you included, Elizabeth–it’s true, we feel the weight of loss with this latest atrocity. Blessings.

I have been reflecting on the excuse them because of their upbringing idea. May write about it in the future.
