80 years ago today.
I was born in 1947 when the surprise bombing of Pearl Harbor was fresh in every American’s mind. In recent years the papers seem to no longer mention it. I was wondering today if the United States would ever have abandoned its isolationist approach to the wars in Asia and Europe if Japan hadn’t attacked Hawaii. It took a grievous interruption of a quiet Sunday morning to end any thought that we could “escape” the conflicts.

I remember that date so well. We learned it in history and through my readings of Asian books when I was a student librarian long time ago.

I wonder how the war would have ended if the USA hadn’t entered as a result of Pearl Harbour. Maybe we would all be speaking German now. A strange thought.

Theres a conspiracy theory that we (Roosevelt admin) knew an attack was imminent but his it from the public in order to have an event that would require our entry into the war. But, some people believe the moon landing was fake, too!
