There is something about living on an island that attracts us to the sea. Masefield got that completely, and summed it up perfectly.
Best wishes, Pete.
We live near the Pacific Ocean, and we’re guilty of taking this treasure for granted. I’m reminded of that fact when we have company, and I can see how impressed by something we see all the time.
Oh how I love walking along the beach & seawater each day!
Love the poem Elizabeth especially the verse where the ‘call cannot need denied’! 😀
Blessings,
Jennifer
Lovely poem, and I enjoyed the sound of the sea. I miss that from Long Island.

I love that sound. It puts me instantly to sleep.

I pity those who have never seen the sea and experienced the sheer bliss of paddling on the shoreline!

I took it for granted too until I moved here where most beaches are “private.”
